adoptahighway is the moniker of classically trained music producer Barry Paul Clark. Throughout his years of formal music training and receiving a bachelor’s degree in classical performance, Clark devoted time and efforts to his electronic compositions. The formal training helped Clark in developing a unique sound with knowledge of classical theory, harmony and composition techniques. While drawing inspiration from romantic era to minimalist composers, Clark also gathers inspiration from patterns of thought and memory, physical and non-physical relationships, and using objects to represent an idea or emotion, which is how the moniker of adoptahighway was chosen. Using controllers and performance software, his live shows are energetic, emotive, engaging and honest. Clark firmly believes that, rather than tag genres or artists to his music to give a predetermined expectation, listeners should be encouraged to open their ears and try to find their own connection to the sound.

Influenced by film scores and soundtracks, eclectic rock, left-field electronic music and DJ culture, The Demix unleashes a unique combination of apocalyptic, cinematic, genre-defiant songs and mixes upon listeners. He is also responsible for the MELT live music series which has featured a diverse line up of artists such as Gonjasufi, Lorn, Om Unit, Eliot Lipp, Haywyre, All Tiny Creatures, Signaldrift, Man Mantis, Nineteen Thirteen, Boy Dirt Car & Pressboard. The "Fight Club EP" was recently dropped by The Demix and featues remixes of Milwaukee artists' Into Arcadia & Unlooped Versus Dilla Project + a remix for Madison's Echo Island and Books On Tape from Los Angeles.

Echo Island is a project consisting of Madison musician Brad Hawes. After performing with Revolving Doors, The Projection People, The Cemetery Improvement Society and Butt Funnel, Brad started Echo Island in an effort to push personal boundaries. "Plenty of people in Madison will recognize Brad Hawes as the focused drummer who pounded The Projection People’s songs to life on the back of the stage. But with his new solo project, Echo Island, he’s pushing his way to the front by supplementing his regular kit with all manner of electronics. Bangers like “Acousticophobia” share some sonic symmetries with Madison beatsmith Man Mantis—whose “I Believe” EI remixed in 2011—but the gorgeous, slow-building “These Buildings Are Islands…” stands apart. The music has real movement and deals in dramatic flourishes, but the real fun is watching him recreate it in a live setting." - Madison A.V. Club
