What's the stigma behind using sample packs like Vengeance? I always thought it would be really unoriginal to use since they really aren't 'your' sounds.

Sub Focus uses them. If the argument is you didn't make the sounds from scratch, then you shouldn't be using any synthesizer you didn't program from scratch

Thats actually a pretty good point, didn't think of that. But now that I think of it, it doesn't matter. As long as its good music.

Big surprise.
Strange how some folks focus on the technicalities but ignore the music.
If it sounds good, who really gives a shit if you've used loops.

I'm the first to tell ppl to go listen to my music.
A use loops all the time.
I have no shame in admitting that.
It's all about the final output.

True that. Producers are orchestrators.

Its like they say: "good producers are like wine, they get better with the years"

I've used vengeance before and I'll use them again. Not my favorite or go to sample pack but definitely usable.

They're just overly bait samples.

Just don't make it blatantly obvious.

I thought that was the point of Vengeance samples...that they are blatantly obvious.*
(*read "blatantly obvious" as me not trying to go off about how Vengeance is over processed trash)

I once saw a track on soundcloud that was composed entirely of samples from Vengeance, and then titled and uploaded. Nothing in the description about it either. Had a bunch of people complimenting him on his "great work".
I'm all for using some loops. But, when you just plop like 10 loops from a vengeance pack into the daw, export, and call it a day, I might have some issues with that.

The only thing I ever use is the fx stuff like reverb kicks and swells and shit. It's pretty funny how often I hear those premade loops though.

The only thing I don't like about them is that they sound like they're already mastered. Many of the snares and kicks are compressed to fuck. Using these crazy distorted reverb tails etc. Giving you very little creative room to move aside from what somebody else intended. The cymbal bits I do use here and there.
