How do I make this bass? (Huge Dubstep Bass)

Ok so I couldn't find this forum so I apologize if something similar already exists. I have been making more and more dubstep and I want to create this bass that is becoming pretty popular. It is this huge bass that cuts through the mix and dominates the track. Nero, Netsky, Davin among many other artists use this. You can hear it at the at the 0.23 second mark.

To give you an idea of what I'm working with. I use Ableton 8 as my daw, massive as my main synth, ozone 5 for mastering, tons of VST's and plugins for effects. I try stero widening, layering basses, cutting frequencies, using eq's, filters, you name it. I just cant get this sound. I am pretty sure that he is layering a fat midrange bass with a pure sub and then adding tons of effects, compressing, eqing, etc.

Any tips, advice, pointers would make my year. I have had no luck with this sound and need input!

i reckon start with a sine wave and cmopress it 6 times
add some harmonic distortion

then wack it thru a chain of 6 x L2 or whtever teh Oznone eqivualent is.....maybe think about buying an analogue compression unit
if ur on a budget a culture vultuyre has good bite .... but there arent presets on hardware very often which sux

Do you need hardware to create this sound or is there a way to do it with vst's?

You first have to cut a bass sample (from sample pack of your choice) to what is known as a dubplate mate.

They get this sound by playing said "dubplate" in a warehouse and then get hype on fact mag and have people record it on their phones.

Once they upload it, you just gotta rip it from youtube at 128 kbps and then you've got your pounding bass b2b kryptic minds - badman vip.

Tried supersaws yet? Supersaws, a fat bass underneath it and some white noise should do the trick. check out the first song in my sig, it's a bit old, but tell me if that's the sound you're after and I can see if I find the project :)

For those kind of sounds i really think you'll need hardware, i know its alot to invest but it is how they do it

you need a few compression units and and some analogue saturation gear

those producers are the best because they use the best

there are a few problems though:

there are no presets on strictly analogue

and Vengeance have discontinued all there analogue gear :(

Very cool song yes similar to that but maybe some more midrange bass on top of that huge sub. I have tried layering a supersaw cutting all the low frequencies and layering it with a sub and midrange bass and it just doesn't sound smooth like seven lions or the link I attached above. That would be awesome if you could find the project and give me specific pointers! That bass was fat!

Just keep layering. You're on the right track. Try this: Start with a chord progression. Then pick apart notes and either drop/raise them an octave and depending how high/low you go use sine for sub, and saws for mid and upper ranges. Closer to the top should be the more melodic components vs distorted midrange.

don't listen to this guy, his wobbles are pathetic. never seen an analogue saturater in his life lol

You guys have any opinions on vst tape saturators like vintage warmer? Are they worth it? I know it's digital but I heard they help. Also how much do those compression units and analog saturators run you? Thanks! :D
