It's true. It's not only not illegal, but they actually recommend it as being healthier than tobacco.

WTF...

Yes, the situation in that country is very grave. The sadistic leaders make their subjects smoke Marijuana to make them even more hungry.

i read somewhere that even though smoking weed heavily still hurts your lungs, occasional usage somehow increases lung capacity

not sure how that's possible but that's pretty awesome

Yeah I remember seeing that Vice article when it came out, its pretty interesting (although not really surprising since they have government run opium fields as well).

How accurate are those Vice things? No doubt they're interesting they just don't come across as a very reliable source of information lol. I recently watched a documentary about some guy that injects snake poison. The reason I think they're a shit source of information is when they title such ridiculous documentaries like that as 'Guy gets high off injecting snake poison'.. at no point did he get or claim to be high off it. Interesting watch though, proper weirdo.

Not read the article but again it comes across weird, that country is so mysterious and all they choose to document is their love for weed :?

You should probably read the article then. Its more to do with how its viewed as a medicine there. I can't sit through most Vice articles, but this is the guy who went to North Korea; so he has a lot that he writes about.

Dunnow if they still do it in the North these days but historically Korea has a history of Hemp manufacture for textiles and paper too.

Yeah I'm not too sure on the contemporary history, but it is definitely in their past. Cannabis has grown there naturally for centuries.

surprising they don't base their economy on it

they haven't got many natural resources,
its got so many uses...fibre, food, fuel etc.,
it grows like a .. ah .. weed,
has the potential to cheer up the oppressed plebs
& the nation is immune to The War on Drugs propaganda.

$1 Billion dollars comes from opium; the profit from weed probably isn't enough
