EZDrummer...

Alright, I have EZ Drummer, and am using it in Cubase. I remember Getter saying he uses it, so clearly anyone can set it up, except me. :6: So, I want to use my own samples, not stock. I've used normal Google, and the DSF Google search, only to find nothing informing for me. If it helps, I have Shortcircuit. Need acceptable answers as soon as possible!

can't use your own samples in ezd. never used cubase, but I'm sure you can use your samples as audio clips or maybe in a sequencer. Or try a vsti sampler.

There must be a way, because Getter's drums are no where near stock.

If you can find on you're hd were the ezdrummer sample library is, then you can (in theory) place the sounds you want to use in that directory. I'm sure you would have to assign a file extension to them or something. But shouldn't be too difficult if you just look at the current sounds.

Mine were hidden in my shared folder on my MacBook.

Although, it would be much easier to use a regular drum sampler. And I'm sure the results would be much better as well.

Are you also sure that he (whomever) isn't using an EZX expansion?

Not sure at all, but what would that have to do with it?

Dude why would you want to use EZDrummer and replace the samples? The sample libraries are the point, it's not that great for a drum vst otherwise IMO. The thing is that is has fairly realistic drum sounds. I think you might have misunderstood him.

it just use it for hihats, cymbals and tom fills, lay your kick and snare the old fashion way. Just my 2 cents.

He's probably processing the samples afterwards. In their Future Music video, Noisia said they used Superior Drummer (the premium version of EZDrummer) so I guess it obviously has SOME use to these guys.

Look, don't use certain tools just because your favorite producers use them (though if they like them and, well you like it I.... guess that's fine.) I mean, shit, I think Koan Sound kicks ass at everything they do, but I literally hate Reason (they use Reason) and can't use it at all so... yeah. I mean, if you like EZDrummer and you like Getter (and he uses it) then go ahead but.... I don't know don't get distracted about your tools, focus on the music brah.

The use imo is that you can effectively mimic real drums, and in the case of Noisia they were playing and mixing the drums as if they were played by a real kit (i.e. recording multiple mic positions outputted from SD, then mixing & processing each channel differently etc.) which is obviously going to give you some kick ass drum sounds if you do it right... I'd assume Getter may be doing something similar. Personally I use FL's FLC for all my cymbals and perc now, just because of the nice layering and velocity control so you can get real sounding stuff out of it, then I sequence kick/snares as usual.

I have never used ez drummer but If your using Cubase version 5 or above have you thought about using Groove Agent One with the Bead Designer midi plugin.

After quickly listening to said artist's stuff, I would say that he probably layers extra snares and kick over the EZ drummer sounds. The hi-hats sound like they're from an acoustic kit, just hi-passed filtered loads.

Then compress to fuck and back.

getter only uses it for the toms and cymbals, kicks and snares are just normal samples

The FPC is so underrated man, use it for all my drums. Beats the living shit out of the step sequencer. I wish they'd give you the ability to send different layers to different channels though so you could layer kicks, process them differently and then trigger them from a single pad. I guess you can just sample them but it's a bit of a hassle sometimes.

you can send individual pads to different mixer channels, its a little lcd number thing on there the little boxes that look like - - - . its confusing how they did it though. say your fpc is on trck 5. put a pad to --1 and it will show up on track 6. another pad to --2. it will show up on track 7 etcetera

Yeah but you cant send different layers to different mixer slots (like if you wanna process a hard velocity kick and a soft velocity kick different or 2 simulataneous kicks different etc) which is what I think Maxxan meant.
