New pad with extra space + recently purchased Adam monitors = me wanting to throw a raging house party

Thought it would be cool to start a thread to discuss house parties. In my experience there is nothing more fun that an awesome house party but at the same time I've been to a lot of really lame house parties.

What do you think makes for an good party?

What was different about some of the better parties you've been to?

Been to any down-right weird/strange parties?

depends how big the house is and how many people you're wanting to come and how memorable you want it to be.

I would definitely have the largest room that's not the kitchen as the dancefloor.. clear as much space as you can and get a set up in there

try and have more girls than boys but don't get carried away with it
if you have too many guys it generally becomes a bunch of blokes getting stoned and chatting shit

tell people to bring their own booze/drugs, but have enough to get you + 20% of the party totally shitfaced.. unless its really large

Buy enough booze to get everyone a few drinks BEFORE they get onto their own supplies or when they've run out.

Try and get a few people on board to play tunes rather than sticking iTunes on random for the whole night or trying to do it all yourself - watchword should be fun. Nobody turned up to see you blend perfect mixes of groundbreaking tunes they've never heard before... they turned up to go "OOHHHHHHHH" and have a sing a long.

Get a fuckload of [red] plastic cups and put all your glasses/crockery out of the way.

Don't even think about breakages or reducing the tidying situation until the MORNING - you'll spend the whole night stressed out otherwise. You won't achieve anything whilst the party's going on, might as well just forget it until everyone's gone.

Leave cans of spray paint and permanent markers all around the house

haha, already have a bunch of sharpies and spray cans lined up right next next to where I keep my fine china and valuable heirlooms

I'm planning on supplying a keg or two in hopes that my guest (15-20 heads) will supply various other party favors. Planning on clearing out my big room and setting up my decks there.

I guess the tunes are really my main concern for the party. I dj a bit but am not that into it so I have a few friends I plan on having spin a bit, but to be honest I'm dreading getting stuck behind that table... What I would really like to do is a live set with my Elektron boxes (kinda my thing) but there are two things stopping me:
1. it seems a little tacky to do anything more than casually dj at a your own party.
2. the main objective of this is for everyone to have a fucking awesome time, and while some would enjoy it most will not be coming to the party to see me play a deep techno set.

Don't think you should have to use the jacks for class A's at a house party but yeah one should remain a jacks for jacks purposes

On the other side of things don't turn up to a really sweet party with an empty stomach because you bought the cheapest thing at burger king and it took about two bites to eat it, loads of 10.5% beer and a load of stroh 80% and proceed to drink it all way too quickly to "make up for lost time on the bus" meaning you pass out just as all the party tunes are on and you wake up still drunk at 4pm the next day in a random bed and are left puking for three days afterwards and unable to drink alcohol at all for two weeks.

Don't peak too soon, the party will still be fun while youre passed out.

Mood lighting, Nout worse than the big light going on and off all through the night.

Supply a fine selection of cheeses, everyone likes cheese.

b2b lineup of all your mates on the 1s and 2s, everyone gets a shot. Everyone, Badger.

when you do a good mix stop the music and gather everyone round so you can show them how good you are at blending

And there was me thinking it was supposed to be only Two Cunts In A Kitchen.

Last house party I've been to had like a beer room. Should have been around 30 crates(24bottles) in a pretty tiny room, looked
like they made a fort

Anyway don't over think it. Mate of mine always threw the best house partys, just because everyone wanted to be there.
Certain point, turn the lights off and play 90s dance for 3 hours.
