Recommended Sound Design Course?

I DID THE SEARCH I SWEAR!

I was hoping to hear some ideas/recommendations on courses that might meet my budget, skill level, and material.

I've been producing for about 2 years now so I'm familiar with the basics of sound synthesis. What I'm interested in learning is the in depth idea behind taking, say a sin wave, to the finished, polished, processed sound. I've been doing the googled online written resources, forum tutorials, and youtube tutorials since I started and have been able to piece together what I know, but I'm ready to invest some cash to get an in depth explanation behind the theory of sound design that I can apply to different scenarios. The bits and pieces officially have me :u: after 2 years.

I'm thinking $500 max is what I can do. Please share any experiences or suggestions!

SkywalkerSound do internships though they may not specifically cover full on sound design and they're hard as fuck to get.

Other than that I'd be interested in what other people recommend as I've never really seen any advertised.

Check out http://designingsound.org/

Also: it might sound trite but the book "The Sounds of Star Wars" is not only HUGELY fascinating reading on the art of sound design - lots of great stories (explosions in first SW film? Thrift shop crystal punchbowls placed face down on concrete and backed over slowly by an Oldsmobile, recorded to tape and pitched down significantly) - it's a ton of inspiration.

This spurred my own little research on volunteering/interning at a local studio. As a result I found a place not too far that offers both in studio house call private producing lessons. The price wasn't listed (so probably out of this world), BUT if the price is right, even one sit down session with a seasoned vet would probably answer a lot of questions. Thanks for the reply! :4:

Also helpful. DesignSound's Wave tutorial looks like a great find and definitely gives me some search ideas.
