Dear World,

It is with a huge amount of sadness that we announce Cable has closed with immediate effect.

We have been forced to close following two years of ongoing legal battles with Network Rail, who took possession of the venue this morning with an entry order, putting us out of business and leaving our 70 staff without jobs. This is due to them allegedly requiring the space back for the redevelopment of London Bridge station. It is an utterly devastating blow to what is a much loved, hugely successful, well respected music venue and media business.

This is not only a huge loss to the loyal fans and staff of Cable, but to London's clubbing community as a whole. With enormous pride, we delivered the very best talent in an environment that upheld the history of the early SE1 rave scene and supported as many musical styles as possible.

We are obviously devastated and still in shock by the news and know there will be questions. As you can appreciate, there is much work to be done and many arrangements to be made behind the scenes. A full press release will follow.

If you are presently a ticket holder for an event that was scheduled to take place at Cable, please do not worry - further information will follow in due course.

Our sincerest thanks,

The Cable Team x
One of the biggest clubs in London at the moment probably as well

Thats crazy, with immediate effect. Never been Cable but it holds some pretty regular nights that I've wanted to attend, Butterz & Hardrive for example. Sad to see it go so suddenly, same month as Sankeys too.

Many clubs in London will go the same way if the trend for "secret east London warehouse location" continues too much longer.

The system was good, central, all night, but I didn't like it much other than that.

I didn't rate the system that much tbh. Never was overly enthused about the venue, was just bog standard in my eyes and it was ALWAYS cold in there.

Sorry bout the 70 staff by other than that not fussed.

Cable was a souless club with no solid following. This will have no effect on any club or underground scene. I only feel for the staff who have lost their jobs.

I'd have to say that's closest to the impression I got on the couple of times I've been. There wasn't much of a sense of togetherness and it made for a weird vibe. Still a shame though, no doubt. I'm sure it held a lot of good memories for a lot of people.

Made some good friends, some very fond memories, and witnessed some very special sets at cable. Gonna miss it for sure. :(

At the end of the day it's all down to your own personal experiences there. In my case I wouldn't call it soulless at all. It's completely dependent on the people around you and the night it was host to.

.

the headz session there in 2011 was off the richter. the place really won't be missed though for it to warrant a thread on every forum or fb feed.

The Mindstep takeover in room 3 with extra sound put in at subdub was wicked vibes, certainly from the perspective of the dj it was as good as it gets (for me)

thought it was fairly decent and this is a shame. Swamp takeover last year was a top night. Seems brutal the way it happened.
