Ideas For a Newbee

Hello all,

I have frequent heard dubstep music that I really enjoy, but every time I try downloading some, it's never like what I heard on TV or wherever else. I always hear that "all-out-craziness, balls-to-the-wall, melt-your-brain-liqeuify-your-ear-drums" type of dubstep, but I never know the artist names, so I am never able to find that song or other songs by that artist later.

So, I am hoping someone with some experience in the world of dubstep will point me in the right direction. I am not at all into lyrics, and I absolutely LOVE bass, so anything that lacks lyrics and focuses more on the actual music is preferred. Like I said before, I am looking for the type of dubstep that doesn't hold back and gets buck-wild crazy.

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

All the best,

steiney

That thread shouldn't be a sticky, it's unusable. Or someone should edit it to be titles and URLs

Thanks. I took a quick look and didn't see the sticky you're referring to. I didn't look in the music section, though. I actually did some more googling after I got the douchey reply from that other guy and found an assload of recommendations. I should be able to take it from here, what with the various music finding websites that offer suggestions to similar music and all.

A good shout would be to find a producer you like, then look up their mixes, and refer to tracklists.

Or try looking by label... here's a few to get you going

DMZ
Blackbox
Deep Medi
Osiris
Chestplate
Tectonic
Tempa
Boxclever
Hyperdub

That's weird. I listened to the track and it was practically ambient music. I'm on a laptop so I couldn't hear the bass, but that track was the polar opposite of what I'm looking for. I just figured you were trying to be a dick. My apologies if not.

Dubstep plus laptop speakers don't go, you are seriously missing out. Hook it up to your hifi or decent cans.
The amount of sub on horror show is nuts.

I think you maybe looking for brostep.

What shit, specifically? I genuinely don't know what you're referring to.

Haha! God forbid I don't have subwoofers in my laptop! Seriously though, they are in my vehicle, which is the only place I listen to music other than at concerts. If asking a question in a forum and stating my intense love for bass while simultaneously not having my laptop (at work, mind you) hooked up to subwoofers makes me a troll, then by golly, I guess I'm a troll.

basically, listen to a Skrillex track. If you like that, you generally won't get a great response on here (to put it lightly)

Wow, I understand completely now. I didn't realize I was more accurately looking for "brostep" music. Just did a little listening, and that is definitely what I was looking for. Sorry to have offended everyone. I just genuinely didn't know that brostep was even a thing. Thanks for the help and helping me find brostep.

I can't believe you guys don't like that stuff. It's so in your face and involved. That's the kind of music that keeps me on the edge of my seat. And I just came across a bit of "Glitch Hop" as well. Pretty similar to Brostep, I guess. Oh well. To each their own.
