Do pros conciously do stuff like call & response

Does anyone know if the top producers will consciously try to create call and response? Alot of the time i feel like call and response creates itself on accident.

Are most tunes premeditated or just created blow by blow?

I heard a good quote from a producer named hedflux about how "every solo producer is working as a duo with their computer, your computer will spit stuff at you sometimes and you gotta learn to collaborate with what it happens to be" maybe its BS, just an interesting way of looking at it.

In most brostep I would thing so.

As most brostep is complexto you are sort of forced to make call and response.. I don't see another way to do it. I don't know if each individual producer would call there music call and response but I would say most of the stuff in the Beatport Dubstep top 100 right now is.

I don't know what you're really looking for as a answer here. Every producer would have a order or way they like to crate a track which would probably change a little, or completely, form tune to tune.

If you want a insight into how the top boys are making tunes I would recommenced you have a search on Youtube for some production masterclasses.

I feel like most pros, like Datsik, Excision, etc. tend to use theme & variations more than call & response. By this I mean they create a bassline, play it for a few bars, then play the same bassline but with a different bass sound. They do this throughout certain tracks. This is different than "classical" variation, as producers don't really switch up their melodies like composers do. Call & response does happen quite a bit in EDM though; I feel like it's something that just tends to happen subconsciously.

A true pro doesn't have to consciously do anything because they've already internalized the process of creating engaging music. But for those of us who haven't reached true mastery yet, sure call and response is something that can be premeditated. A lot of times you'll just do it subconsciously though.

I'd say the 'pros' probably do it subconsciously.

Admirable self-restraint.

I don't think I could have posted without abusing either OP or some of the muppets posting.

'Call and response' is the technical term, but most of the 'pros' are just attempting to emulate what they like in music they listen to.

They probably don't know the exact theory behind it, but they know it sounds good, which is why they do it.
