Hi all. Was wondering if any of the heads can help me out? Basically me and my girlfriend are travelling to London from Australia later in the year on a purely dubstep holiday. Wanting to know where we can go to be guaranteed some dubstep. You know, the chest rattling stuff. Clubs, basements etc. Good sound systems. Looking for the more low key underground sounds and venues. Already sussed Fabric, there's some dnb on so we will see. But more interested to find the true Croydon sound still being played in small dark bars and the like. Propa like.

Yeah haha. I know the Aussie scene quite well. There used to be a good scene is brisbane but the quality has deteriated over the years, mainly the venues and sound restrictions. Not nearly enough bass. There's still a good little scene in Sydney with a couple of cool little crews putting on gigs in the suburbs with decent rigs.
But I can't seem to find current information on the net about the scene in London. Surely there's guys still pushing the sound. Seems like old info and I wouldn't know if a particular club was still going or not. Surely someone knows something?

If i was you id be checking out system, but ya gonna have to be more specific with what month ya going in. I live just in country victoria and did the saame thing back in 2011

Yeah when are you over? Good events are coming thick and fast over the next couple months, it's good to see.

Hey what part of London did u stay in when u were there?

System's just a night. We stayed all over london. We were highly unorganized and booked a lot of the rooms on the fly lol.

Yeah cheers looked into System, sounds right up my alley, there's one in a couple of weeks but they are only every 3 to 4 months which means i will probably miss the next one. Dammit.

Anything else anyone? Probs too far ahead being end of August? Am hoping like shit that something decent pops up for when I'm there. Been checking the events daily.

FWD» has no moved to a new venue and is supposedly pretty good again, fortnightly event now usually has a pretty stellar line up.

I'm not sure how much stuff they'll have up for august yet but packlondon has basically all the nights going on listed on their website.

Easy mate. Theres not really too much going on in Croydon these days, HOWEVER, as you are coming in August you could be in luck and there might actually be 2 events happening that month. I co-run Croydon Basslift, a newish night that we are putting on quarterly, previously having booked Hatcha, N-Type, Wen, Mutated Mindz & Beezy. Our next event is 17/08 (not sure if you'll be over by that point?!), and although for this event we having a more house/garage sound in the main room, we'll be having dubstep & a little bit of d&B in room 2.....plus our soundsystems are pretty decent.

Also theres pretty much always a Croydub @ Black Sheep Bar in Croydon on the bank holiday Sunday in August, which this year would be the 25th. Bound to get some big names at that one.

there's my night methods but i doubt we'll be having one late august.

get darker do free entry wed evening events, they used to run big raves as well, although the club they were using has shut down so not sure whether they're still doing that

Youngsta's got a night called contact, there's only been one so far though and I haven't heard any details yet about another.
