Hey,

I've seen a few tracks that has this reggae hit between the kick and the snare, so I'm really wondering how do I achieve it?
Here's an example of how it sounds

In context:
Soundcloud

I already tried to mess around with the piano, but still, doesn't sound the way I want. Should I get kontakt and get some guitar packs? I'd really appreciate some tips!

I can't believe how many times I've seen this thread lol.

Anyway, there was a really good pack with some clean guitar skanks on here a while back but I can't remember which thread it was, try searching for "Reggae guitar skanks" or something and you should come across it. I'll try and find it on my comp, I'm sure I have that pack somewhere!

I have a nice go-to reggae/dub/beats 2 & 4 pluck that I use in a lot of my tunes. I made it in Sylenth. Cba to upload a patch but I'll explain it to you if you want. Not too complicated.

Well I'm not sure what else to suggest, I guess just keep looking through sample packs until hear something you like.

If you could find a friend who plays guitar (or just has a guitar and a way to record it) you could just do them yourself, if you just want to record single hits to resample then you can do that without really knowing how to play. I'd do it for you but unfortunately I don't have a way to record my guitar, sorry!

Haha yeah, I'll just mess up with sample packs and through it into a sampler and try to bring it up to my tastes ^^. Or I'll just browse for kontakt packs

This sound (imo) sometimes is more about what notes you're playing rather than what you use as your source.

Most of the time if you're not going to use a real recording, you're not going to get it sounding live like your video.

I've personally made these type of things from layering multilple sources, for example layering a horn sound from Kontakt with a Rhodes style patch from Z3ta. I've also layered in violin stabs or simple plucks from Sylenth. There are guitar modelling VSTs out there and these can work too - but it's down to your processing to make them sound good.

If you're playing a decent set of notes (i.e. an off beat set of chords) and process the sound right (disto, tight reverb, wah/flange) then it's quite easy to get something sounding quite cool.
