London vs Berlin scene

Hi there,

Currently saving money to move in one of those cities. Been to both but not long enough to know this.

I'm making my stuff, more UK garage sampled cuts and bruises kinda things you know, and wondering if i should choose for the obvious and trying London where the scene is currently exploding, or try Berlin but then i'm curious about their scene. Is it as eclectic as London ? Is techno still being the most active scene in electronic music there or do people can actually make themselves known with bass dub and garage music there ?

Thanks

well yo can make UK BASS if you arent in the UK
then you can use old jungle samples as well

if youre in berlin its kick drums only and a possible move into trance and self loathing (scuba)
be aware there are loads of knobbers in both cities

berlin nightlife is unique, and much more unrestricted than london. however, the music scene on the whole is much more close-minded. there are bass/garage/dubstep/drumnbass parties happening here and there, but the main draw is always gonna be techno. it's far too entrenched into the german (and more specifically berlin) culture to be otherwise. amazing place though.

uk garage is exploding? haha m8 as long as it is at 130 bpm thats what is exploding at the moment

are you planning on getting a job and shit or just making tunes? its sposed to be quite cheap to live in berlin isnt it? wlel probably not anymore since everyone is moving there. London is expensive though. If you wanna go check out nights thoguh, for what you are saying you like, London is gonna be better unless you wanna endure 36 hours long nights of loops then go berlin

You get free reverb in Berlin though mate. When I got off the plane, everything was all echoey, I was like "wot d fok is this?" then remembered they put crackle and delay on you at customs.

When Will Bevan lived in london, he was better known as Shanks & Bigfoot. He went on holiday to Berlin, came back, BAM! Turned into Burial. Hope that helps your decision.

The UK Garage scene blew up around 1999 and has barely been seen since. Where do you get this information from?

Sorry, misunderstood, i'm not making Uk garage plain and simple, it's just the roots, rythm and groove i take of off it, than i screw with sounds and samples and make my thing.
I think the scene that is kinda exploding got those bases also, Four tet, Sbtrkt, Mount Kimbie, Koreless and more... don't ya ?

Yeah well, shame for berlin, i love the living condition there, but the music scene is still priviledged in my choice...
