Didn't want to bump some very old thread so I decided to make a new one for recommendations about closed headphones.

I'm moving together with someone this autumn and my DT990s leak too much.

I basically need some good headphones that leak very little (I like to listen at quite high volumes). And as I've been starting to travel by train and air more often it'd be great if the headphones had some kind of isolation too. I've been mostly looking at the Ultrasone PRO 900, AKG K550 and Shure SRH940 after reading reviews online and on dsf and haven't really come to any conclusion.

I mostly produce and mix house and progressive house.

Any tips would be awesome! My budget is ~£250ish.

Heard many good things about the Sony 7520. Some people are saying they're HD600 killers, etc. Worth a look.

Hm could only find them in the EU for £445 which is abit over my budget. =/

Of the 3 you listed, I've heard good things about the Shures. You may also want to check out the Audio Technica ATH M50s, which are really popular. I'm still not sure how I feel about them. The top end sounds a bit hyped. But I've yet to do a mix with them yet to check the translation, so who knows.

headphone preference is so much more individual than choosing a pair of monitors

Id check out the attenuation/frequency curves and try to find something that way.

After going through 10 or so different pairs im pretty much set on sonys.
most will boost the mids slightly but overall they are fairly flat... I find most headphones will boost low freqs too much

Be careful on ebay too (lots of fakes around)

The AKG K550 would be my choice under about 700 for closed back to be honest.
Annoyingly, they come through the hifi side of AKG and not the pro-audio side, so i cant get em for the shop.
Obliterates the ATH-M50's for accuracy.

The Ultrasone 900's bass is waaaay too hyped for practical mixing use.

hd 600. Way to go for mixing.

I decided to go for the AKG K550.
I tried them abit and they sounded amazing for being closed. I'll test them abit more when I get my own pair (ordered from amazon.co.uk... takes 1-2 weeks with delivery to Sweden and I got them really cheap compared to what they go for in Sweden) and if anyone is interested I'll just post my thoughts about them here.
