My very first dubstep song!

Hi guys and gals, this is my very first dubstep tune. I know it's not perfect, but I worked very hard on this. Too be honest I'm not too unsatisfied with it, given the fact that it's a first timer :) The bass souds I all created myself. The Alfa Uno-like sounds and the pads are more or less presets.

I'm very anxious to here from the experts here what you all think of it. Especially what can be done better for next time.

Thanks in advance!!

My advice is to use soundcloud, and embed it in your post so lazy people will be more likely to click on it.

Definitely not bad for a first attempt, a. The drums are a bit weak, you should work on your drum skills for you next tune.

Thanks! I put it on a soundcloud account I apparently had lying around. Unfortunately something went wrong and it's a lower bitrate version. Will correct soon.

Anyone? Put a lot of hours in this, and I'm really a beginner, haven't listened to much dubstep as well. Hope I'm on the right track.

I actually quite like this. What programs did you use to make it out of curiosity?

Hi, I used Cubase as DAW, mostly just for sequencing and sending the automation parameters (which are mostly the volumes and frequencies of the various hard- and software synths). I used a Korg TR-61, an old Roland JV-880, the free Synth1 soft synth, the free TAL NoiseMaker, and some samples for only the kick and snare. And of course the (pretty low quality) sample of the vocals. Any tips for improving my next dubstep song?

The intro is pretty good. And provides the tune a nice atmosphere. It has some good synth elements as well. It's the wobble bass-lines in the drop that hurts the tune. They are kind all over the place and out of tune. You still need to work on sound design, to get a cleaner feel to those "wobble" bass patches. The drums, especially the snare need to come up in volume, must be EQ'd, and need some compression with a low attack to really make them snappier and more impactful.

It's still a decent try for a first dubstep tune. The vocal works very well with the tune.

Thanks man!! That's the kind of advice I'm looking for, much obliged. I will try my hands at another tune soon. I will try to get the wobble cleaner indeed, and use sidechain compression for the snare and kick towards a bass bus and investigate the compression tip you gave me. Thanks!

The intro is great, but the wobbles are very bad.
