So I came up with an interesting experiment. I always saw people overcomplicating synthesis. I want to prove it now.
If you want to join the experiment all you need to do is:
- Based on your knowledge and skill, guess how the main bass sound was made in the track above, and how many DIFFERENT synths you hear.
After I get some input, I'll post how I actually made the sound(s).
Ignore that the track on its own sounds horrible because of my productionz skillz

I'm just hearing a single synth with loads of modulation?

Did you utilise the "Hey" sample in some way to create the sound?

Sounds sweet but I have no idea.

No questions now

I will answer all the questions after a few people tell their thoughts about this sound.

I'm expecting more specific inputs, like, type of synthesis / processing etc.

my guess? ONE synth, two oscellators modulated and low passed for the sub, and the vocal stab. If you did that shit all with the vocal "hey" sample then you're a beast!

I thinks its only one synth, but with some formant eq and some modulation.

*noted* keep guessing
3-4 more peoples will input and I'll reveal how it was made.

The bass is actually made in FM8. The first sound you hear in the track above is the pure FM8 output.
I resampled the fm8 bass in harmor two times. Each time I added random stuff like chorus, distortion, little compression, and the really important: phaser. Because I used the phaser I didn't need to use filters.
Then I loaded the resampled bass into fruity slicer and pitched it up one semitone, it changed its timbre a lot actually.
And that's how I made it.. so yeah.

Pretty much, yes.
mthrfnk wrote:Did you utilise the "Hey" sample in some way to create the sound?
Nope.

Yes.

Yes.

Accurate.

One synth: yes. The rest: nope.

Yes, one synth, but no formant eq. Modulation is pretty much in every sound you hear. ASDR on volume can be called modulation.

Sorry but no 3xosc and no vocoders

Did you use Prism's inverted multiply and set a custom Harmonic Prism? You didn't mention it, but I can hear a similar sound.

I meant external modulation, like automating the phaser.
