Days you don't feel music

Ninja cru,

Does anyone else have days where music just doesn't sound good, when it comes to making or listening to it? Some days, I'll put on tunes I generally love and they just sound boring and flat. Trying to produce then is even worse. I just end up making a really bad/overly simple kick&snare pattern and jamming on top with the keys, and it all sounds completely dry, like listening to white noise. No feeling. It's scary, because it makes me think I'm losing touch with music, which is so much of what makes life good, I'm sure many of you will agree.

It also sets of all kinds of insecure thinking, like asking myself wether I really enjoy the music I listen to, or wether I'm just trying to be a #truhed or something. I've tried listening to radio pop or Beatport top 10 music instead on these days. It doesn't sound much better, I think, but then I wonder if I have a vested interest in *not* liking that stuff, because it's maybe a point of pride to be in the Cool Underground Music Club. I like to think myself way above that kind of shallow shit, but you never know how your brain works, really. Is even having to ask oneself about this stuff proof that you actually don't like the music you're hearing? It's hard to enjoy music with these thoughts going around my head, because you're constantly scrutinizing your emotional response to it.

Any other ninjas have similar experiences? How do you deal with it?

It's overexposure to music in general or music you know. That's when you just go out for a walk, do chores and when you're back, only check out music you were never interested in before

But as soon as I get back into the car - It sounds great again...

sometimes i just don't feel a certain tune i usually do feel. but i rarely feel that i can't listen to any music at all at any given day

that was a grammatically very bad sentence

Yeah changing genres up help me when I get into that "the music I listen to bores me" mood.

Music is really dependent on mood. If I find myself not feeling anything much and skipping through shit I usually end up going for 80s or a bit of Earth, Wind & Fire.

Or like others have said turn it off and read a book/watch a film.

First time I had this, I stopped producing D&B.
Having something similar right now. I found that just setting up a new account and just sharing tunes with close and personal friends is keeping things relevant for me, also trying to make more beatless stuff helps.

Fuck BPM, I would just sometimes load up Kontakt and create some random violin song or make jazz music without drums.

Honestly has never happened to me.

Pretty much as soon as I wake up I can't wait to stick some music on. Even when I'm watching a film or something my mind wanders every few minutes cos I'm thinking about songs and tapping out drumbeats on my legs. I'm not trying to say "music is my whole laif!" but it's the only thing I've ever really been consistently interested in and I still get that child-like excitement when something new comes out I've been looking forward to.

I think I have undiagnosed ADHD or something lol could never concentrate at school either.

How old are you rorz?

Not being a prick. Just curious since I'm 18 and most of my friends who do any kind of art often say they've not had what I've had?
Might be an emotional thing perhaps.

I was talking to Microphunk years and years ago and he said that my taste in music would slow down as I got older, as his had, and I thought "fuck off". He was right though.
I notice similar things happened to people like Karma Kid and Troy Gunner. When we were younger we used to make lots and lots of dnb haha. Now it's scarce at best.

I find myself hunting for an increasingly amount of avant garde type music along with the more extreme types of music. I've been playin' this record a lot lately http://www.discogs.com/Maruosa-Untitled/release/1303004
