I find the internal video player is clunky and the timecode is unreliable. Lots of other issues working with video inside FL

Has anyone here produced audio for video in FL Studio? If so, how did you go about monitoring the video clip?

Among other things, I'm getting a lag after I hit play making it impossible to accurately line anything up.

This is an area in FL that leaves much to be desired.

That's a tough one. I have tried to use FL for writing scores using their internal player, but as you said it is really unreliable. Are you getting the lag on the FL video player? If so I had the same issue. I just ended up watching the film, taking notes, end then visualizing what I just saw and writing the score that way. I wish I could be more help to you. Sorry.

Thats exactly where I'm at with it. I think Abletons video features are better than FL's. I'm just better at composing with FL. Thanks for the info


I messaged Billain on Facebook. I know he does a lot of scoring with FL. We'll see if he gets back to me.

FL is rubbish for this type of work, Logic is about 10 times better suited.

Wow what a nice guy. I'm sure you were hoping for something more descriptive. At least he acknowledged your existence. Some of these guys you'll never get a response.

u could maybe just steal a copy of sony vegas n bounce a REALLLLLYY low shit resolution version of the film so it runs smoother in FL?

Before you go and steal some shit look for freeware first. There are plenty of free video editing softwares online that will give you the lowest level video conversion.

Converting it to a lower pixel rate is genius though I never thought of that.

Yeah, he responds to comments in posts sometimes too. down to earth guy.

I already have all the video editing software I could ever need. Not sure resolution is the issue but I'll test it out.

Lol, it does work but I have a pretty good gpu so that could be it too.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. My gpu is really good as well. I used to edit music videos part time for extra cash. I'm going to try that for sure. We're in production for our music video so that will be the perfect opportunity to use this technique.
