Entering Syntrex's contest with this, everything I have done is in this preview as it is still a WIP:

hey man sounds dope so far! digging the progression on the drop, but the voice / vocoded sound right before the drop just doesn't quite fit right... there's quite a bit of bass in it, which seems to detract from the actual drop's sub. really cool melody on the intro too

If I highpass around 300 Hz and lower the gain do you think that might help?

300 sounds better. at that point, i'd say slide the filter or eq's cut around that area to see what sounds best since there's no "set way" to do it
also, try getting rid of 800-900 hz with a notch or a bell, that should also help get rid of some mud. use your ears and take out as much as you think sounds best.
