I think that u will be a much better dj if you produced already, but not vice versa.

Production is harder but that's not the point. You are not going to pick the easy way if it's not the best one. ;-)
Learn both and then decide what do you like more and what do you want to do.

Play around in those two until you collect the money for the DAW you actually want.

Do whatever you want. But if your interested in djing, than do that. And you dot need to blow you're wad on an S4. Pick up a used s2 for like $300, some decent headphones for like $100, and use whatever money you were going to spend that left over on some production stuff.

Producing and DJ'ing are not the same thing.

I don't think this is true at all. I've known a lot of great DJ's that don't produce and there are a lot of producers that don't DJ.

Logic is great but don't write off Ableton because of how it looks, many great producers and DJs use it. And about Ableton being good for live, that's true if you're playing your own tracks that you've produced in Ableton, cause then you can mix them up as you like by cuing different parts of the track as you see fit. But if you're not a producer and you're playing other people's tunes, then just use the traktor. My friend DJs with an s2 and it's all you really need.

Thanks or the help! The best ive gotten here, but here's my thoughts on the order ill buy my stuff, and can you help me with that? 1.s2 or s4(traktor)
2.im thinking ableton (and on the note of mixin your tunes with cues, can't you do that with traktor? It's on the app haha)
3.maschine
4.a midi keyboard, been lookin at virus ones
5.komplete ultimate or something of the sort, lots of effects;)
And if i have a s2 controller, would that make a z1,x1, and f1 useless? There's just so much stuff to choose from

Most of those things you do not need for DJ'ing. If you think that you want to produce in the future, I would go with Ableton and something like the Akai APC-40 so you can do both DJ'ing type stuff and production.

If you are only wanting to DJ, I would go with Traktor and one of their controllers.

I wish I was rich enough to use a Virus as a midi keyboard.

Yeah haha im not a rich bitch;) just have some spare cash from a settlement hahaha but yeah it's expensive as shot but my look on it is if you by top of the line stuff, you won't have to renew for many many years, like if i had this stuff i wouldn't even consider changing anything until like 5-7 years depending on how long it lasts itself
