I was over on gearslutz and there's guys just listing off retarded reasons why they didn't get logic x and wont.

For instance, this dude....he sounds like hes defensively justifying his choice of sticking with 9 and in denial lol.

"Gonna stick with 9 for several years probably....
New GUI is big and bloated unless you have retina or 27 inch hires display....
Track stacks- don't need them - on full hd resolution I can get 83 tracks in arrangement which is more than enough to look at.
Flex pitch is nice, but if needed something to solve with melodyne or waves
Midi fx are nice, but I prefer my midi clean and if you wan't it deeper- go to environment.
Gavin a la Mustache Drummer- what a Joke !!!!
10.6.8 with Logic 9.1.8 still"

I for one find logic x to be the absolute tits. the GUI is the dopest looking daw I have ever seen. The dark GUI is a pleasure to look at, especially at night with the lights off, where LP9 put off a bit too much light for my tastes. People bitch it looks too much like GB, but I've only opened GB a couple of times so I wasn't really tainted with that. I just got LPX yesterday and I seriously am loving it. One of the biggest pluses for me is the menus seem to be a lot more simple and easy to navigate, things just make more sense.

Sorry another LPX thread I just can't

I think your first problem is...GearSlutz. A lot of hardcore posters there live to nit pick. Butnyea that guys complaints are mostly dumb. Most of it sounds like things he could avoid using if he doesnt like them.

yeah this is true. one thing that got me was his environment comment. personally i steer the fuck clear of environment lol. i just dont like it and i hated the logic arp in environment, the new one is soooo much more intuitive and you can easily get a groove going with the swing etc.

The environment is honestly one of the strengths of the software.

I'm digging X. One bug is that I can't copy and paste Space Designer settings. Other than that I'm pleased with it. I definitely like the new look as opposed to dull grey.

Harph, should have seen logic in the 90's. All it was was the environment.

I think a lot of people are pissed off after waiting several years for not much of an upgrade.

And if the GUI is bigger it seems obvious that Apple is trying to persuade their customers into buying MBPs with retina screens.

Started with Reason, then Ableton 8, then Logic 8/9, then Cubase 6/7. No Pro Tools, Studio One, etc but let's face it, most DAWs share the same core feature sets with different workflows. No DAW will ever be perfect. If I had my wish, I would like to take the session view from Ableton, with Cubase's arranger and Logic's low latency and mixer window.

Having used quite a few and seeing the feature sets of each DAW evolve, I've come to 1 conclusion. It's 80-90% the producer and 10-20% the DAW. The people that complain about DAWs are busy doing just that...Complaining instead of making music. I never hear people like Hans Zimmer saying, "I hate this DAW becasue the interface looks outdated". You'll most likely see him suggesting innovative ways to solve any limitations any DAW may have.

Long story short, if you're a good composer/producer, it doesn't matter what you're given as long as the basic tools are supplied. The people that complain are the people looking for shortcuts and coles notes with no desire to read the book.

I have no doubt that guys like Kill the Noise and Feed me would eventually produce the same level of music if you told them to learn a new DAW.

My main problem with Logic X is why should I have to buy the entire thing again if I already have Logic 9? Hell even Pro Tools lets you upgrade at a discount... but no, I have to pay the whole 200 dollars just to get track stacks, macro controls, and a different appearance? Uh... I'll stick with Logic 9 and its normal-sized text, thank you.

Yeah this is true. Don't get me wrong, I think Logic is a great DAW. I just don't think it's much of an upgrade if you already own 9. The price is pretty good though.

Because what other daw can you get for 200? thats the thing with logic, they set such a low price for it to attract new users they would practically be giving it away if they gave upgrades. most upgrades are close to 200 anyway.

i paid almost 200 for zebra 2, logic is so so much more bang for buck. if i have to pay 200 every 4 years for an upgrade then so be it. it doesn't really bother me that much.

i started on reason, tried to dabble in ableton but it just didn't click with me and im a sucker for beautiful interfaces, which ableton just doesn't have. i haven't tried fl or cubase though, not sure i ever will buy them. im pretty happy with logic. and id probably go ableton over fl or cubase.

But why should i need to spend 200 when I have Logic 9 that works the same as it ever did, there is no reason to upgrade if all the new features dont improve how you make tracks.

FL defiantly has it right. Its a great approach to take if you want to recruit potentials.

I downloaded the Mac beta demo, but just couldn't get into it though.

When I bought Logic 9, I paid 200 dollars. That $200 went towards different things, some of that went towards the ES2, some of it paid for the EXS24, some of it paid for the space designer reverb, some of it paid for the mixer, and the arrange window, some of it paid for other effects, etc etc etc.

So basically, Apple wants to make me buy all of these things AGAIN if I get Logic 10. Sure the price of each individual component will be reduced, since there are more features that need to be included in the $200 price. But I'm still paying money for something that I already have, which makes no sense.

That is, unless Apple is trying to claim that they added a full $200 worth of new features in Logic 10, but this is obviously not the case. Bottom line, everyone who's buying Logic for the first time gets a great deal while the loyal customers and long time Logic users get screwed.

i personally think it is worth 200 more.

the new pitch flex alone is worth 200 practically, add retro synth and everything else and its defintely worth 200. like i said i paid close to 200 for zebra 2. logic x from 9 was way more than what i got from zebra 2.

im not complaining over here...

and FL is coming to mac??? ill actually consider fl but ill have to try it first i dont think it will make me want to switch from logic.
