Hey all,

I recently have been hitting too many walls in music. As both a lead guitarist and now producer, I have found myself
bashing my skull against the wall for not learning more music theory in the last 7 years. I have decided if I truly love
the art, I need to work at it even harder than I already am.

With that said, I am starting all over again. I never applied myself enough in high school when I had my music theory courses, and my music business courses in college didn't touch the subject at all. I'm a hands-on learner, and I learn at my own pace. The internet is such a powerful tool, and on this forum we have so many talented and generous producers who have given me a lot of direction in this first year of my producing journey.

I now need more physical tools in my possession. I need reference books, magazines, anything I can get my hands on to learn more. For now, my main focus will be relearning music theory, to better understand song structure. So, how many of our members have used books for learning about music theory? I have found some results already online, though I want more personal experiences/opinions. Which books do YOU think are the best? Keep in mind I want a somewhat forgiving course, as music theory is quite a harsh learning curve!

Yah ravenspiral is my go to especially as a reference while producing. The other one is something I read when I'm out away from my computer.

I have an ipad and I use the remote app for logic x and I usually have ravenspiral up incase I need to remember a scale or what have you. It's very handy especially being able to pull it up on the ipad so I don't have to minimize logic.
