Hey yall.

Is there any way to detach the Channel Window/Step Sequencer in FL 11? I am using dual monitor and would like my Step Sequencer on the monitor outside FL.

Thanks in advance! :D

I must prewarn - as a dual screen user.

It feels messy when its not on the same window - you may enjoy it though.

what, I just stretch flstudio across both screens. I detach playlist and pianoroll on right monitor. If I'm doing sound design, I'll close both for more room for fx and processing.

id only use a separate monitor/screen for fx and plugins. for everything else i just use hotkeys to open/close.

and for everything else theres mastercard..

but seriously.. its much easier learning the hotkeys. :D

I mostly keep everything open all the time. Left side browser, step sequencer, mixer at bottom, and in center my general plugin workspace, on right monitor playlist on top, piano roll on bottom. I have access to everything at once. All the one window applications out there are cluttered with tiny controls. I have access to everything all the time, with large enough control surfaces. Other nice thing about piano roll and playlist, double click one and it full screens. So if I'm in mid song writing, I'm writing lines and creating song structure, they're both open, if I need to jump into midi and do serious editing, full screen piano roll by double clicking top bar of the window, do edits, double click it again, it goes back to original size and location. Same if I start arranging, full screen playlist, or bring it back down to size.

I am a fast worker. I see some people and they are slow, they open a window and mouse over here, and pull down this menu, and select this or that... fucking hell mate, slow slow slow. I'm like on crack mixed with amphetamines with a modifinil laced coffee chaser while bathing in macha green tea. Fast fast fast, flstudio is fast. Looking at cubase's media bay or whatever they called it almost gave me a heart attack the interface was so catastrophically slow. When it comes down to it, flstudio is fast, it works at my tempo which is 170^(brane encoded superstring migrating to every noncorner of the antiverse per picosecond per picosecond squared^now) bpm, despite the fact that I mainly produce in 70-92 bpm.

Why I'm saying all this, I don't know.

I really don't know why homie wants the step sequencer detached... so it is always on top of the stack? Its always there, just click on it if you need to bring it up?

@nowaysj:

dude i agree, fl is SO fast. i pump out 90% of a tune in under 4 hours or so..
i feel you in regards to watching other people work.

yeah F5 opens and closes the playlist, F6 does the step sequencer and F9 opens and closes the mixer, theyre so easy to open/close i wouldnt bother trying to get the step seq out onto another window.. if youre working on a beat in pattern mode then surely youd have it open anyway?

meh, to each his own. most of us are self taught anyway. ;)

Yeah, I'm just chattin breeze, cause I don't know what op really wants to do. I'm thinking he doesn't know that flstudio can work across two monitors.

My point though, is that with two monitors, there is room for all 5 main windows to always be open: browser, step, mixer, playlist, and piano roll.

That is everything I ever use as far as the daw goes, and it is always there, no opening, no closing.

FAST FAST FAST :)

Or one giant screen. Honestly would prefer one giant screen. One giant screen = $1000. Two small 21"ers = 2 hundo together. Waddya gonna do?

two monitors is the ideal setup, I have the playlist on one with everything else on the other. Makes the workflow so much quicker

I run the playlist in the left monitor and everything else in the right, I want to get a newer Nvidia GPU so I can run 3 monitors and have the piano roll in the third.
