Hi everyone,

First of all here's a sound that i made with Sytrus and added a Vocoder to it:

I wan't to know if someone can tell me how to make it more punchier more heavy, how to make it sound like Excision bass in his song X Rated (At least a little bit like that). Maybe that could help me and others who have the same "problem".

For this sound I used Sytrus for the carrier, a vocal sample that comes with FL, Vocodex, Fruity WaveShaper, and a bit of EQ.

Layer another bass sound with the bass you already have. Add other elements to the song, because it is empty as fuck. Hi-hats, cymbals, random percussion, some synths playing in the background, drum fills.

And you have to understand it: if you just keep playing the bass on and on, it will never sound punchy. You have to add other synths, and that bass sound should be a filler. Then it will sound truly amazing.

Just a bass a kick and a snare.

Actually i like to have just one synth going on for a sound but gonna try to layer my sounds, thanks for the advice.

But you have to understand it.

Punchy bass? Don't play a kick or snare at the start of your bass note. The bass will punch through.

What you want to do is make the sidechainer you have on it release a LOT faster. Right now it's really slow and it feels sluggish.

Well that's not what i was thinking when I said "punchy", I was more thinking for making the bass sound more heavy. But anyways thank's for the tip with the sidechain .

I think I'm on my way of understanding it. Actually I added another synth that I HP and know it sounds much more squelchy and more heavy. "It sound's truly amaizing" :p

Ah, heavier bass. Make it super wide (use a chorus, with a very slow rate and high modulation amount), scoop down some of the 600hz region, saturate the 100-300hz region, and couple it with a mono sub bass (use a harmonic-editing synth like Operator, have a full fundamental and another harmonic just above it, and then another just above it, each one quieter than before, and then very very very slightly distort the entire signal with something like Ableton's Dynamic Tube) and it'll definitely be heavy.

I see what you mean, but I don't know if I would be able to do all this in FL (I use FL Studio and only built-in plugins such as Harmor, Sytrus, Vocodex, GMS, etc..). However I'll try all this and maybe post a little preview if it sounds good .

Yeah you can do absolutely 100% all of that in FL, to make your bass "punchier."
With basically everything you said you used in the first place.

Things tend stand out generally because they are in contrast to something else.

Yeah, actually I did it and I'm going to upload it soon, tomorrow maybe . And if someone's interested I would eventually do a video tut, because the sounds that you get are very heavy and cool (That's my opinion though )

You're... going to do a video tutorial of something I told you how to do?

you should sepearate your bass track from your sub,forsure you can get that bass sounding lot clearer if you use stereo spread,and if you bring up your seperate sub bass up to volume level with compression.and always always always filter your subs after compression or overdrive so it doesnt mess with your kicks!

Actually I did what you suggested me to do and added some other things to it. Actually I made it on patcher and It works pretty much with any bass in sytrus.

And of course that I wouldn't do a tutorial in something told me by someone other.
Or instead of the tutorial I'll just give the patcher preset away if someone's wants it.
