Saw this on musiciansfriend and figured some people here would be interested. You enter for a chance to win a presonus mixer and just for entering get a free plugin that emulates a tape sampler. Could be cool, could be shit w/e it's free.
So one thing I've been kind of confused about from watching demos of that plugin, is it a sampler with just emulated tape saturation? Or is it kind of like a sample library with premade instruments without the ability to sample external sounds? I could probably find the answer with google but I'm pretty tipsy and already on DSF!
Thanks man, I'm pretty sure these answered my question. So I can put my own sounds into the "mellotron" (plugin) and it will treat them like a tape loop? P.s. video was corny as hell, but fun to watch.

Uhm, well hard to say. My bet is that they sampled the original or created samples similar to the original, and implemented sometime of software magic to make the sampler play the samples in the manner the mellotron did. Those videos aren't shit by the way. The mellotron has a wild kind of forlorn sound. That is what I use it for at least. A lushness but also like something is missing. Like you see your girlfriend for the first time after a long absence but then you realize you're missing your right foot.
It is not what you think it is, or what you want it to be, but I'm pretty sure you'll find a use for it.

I know what you're saying man. But I'm pretty sure there isn't a mellotron in my sig track ( thanks for listening btw ) there's only like one or two samples I didn't synthesize myself. But I've always liked making wonky lush sounds, like vintage flute kind of synths. Which are the kind of vibes I pick up from watching those vids, but anyway thanks for helping me wrap my head around this a little better.
