Ableton live problem: Transpose won't work, pitch of samples

Hello, I recently got Ableton Live 8 and am having trouble changing the pitch of my snare. I tried transposing it so I could lower the pitch but the button is greyed out and it won't let me modify the sample. Is this even the best way to change the pitch of a sample? Is there better way to do so without losing sound quality or distorting the sound? Thanks

Here is a video of me trying to click it.

the easiest way imo would be to load a drum rack and change the sounds inside the drum rack

Hey thanks for taking the time to respond to this post! That technique worked perfectly,Thank you so much! I have another question. Is there any possible way to make the pitch go lower in the drum rack? It is not making my snare as deep as I want it. Good luck with your music

Cheers!

A sample has to be warped before you transpose it. Put a warp marker at the beginning and end, transpose should work in the clip now. And doesn't drum rack let you transpose up to 48 semitones either way? I couldn't see why you would want it lower than that for any reason.
