Seen Pensado using this before to good effect, don't knock it before you've tried it.

Pensado's kind of a noob too though. I always get the feeling like everything he's teaching he just learned a week before. Like when you get a lazy English teacher who only stays one chapter ahead in the book you're reading. Not trying to knock the guy, he's got a grammy and a fair bit of experience. He just always sounds like he stumbled ass-backwards into something that works.
This plugin is pretty bait. But I guess if you need something quick without much tweaking, it's a pragmatic solution. It's free at least so whatever. Maybe I'll grab it and wait till the sale ends and then sell the license.

loool surely if a guy whose mix downs have won a grammy uses a plug-in its a safe bet it does a pretty good job

I might add this plugin to my small arsenal of Waves tools. Thanks for the heads up.

I agree tbh, but I like the way he is, especially in his video series - it kind of humanizes it rather than being super technical.
Sure R-Bass isn't the most sophisticated plugin but it certainly helps if you want to increase the perceived level of your bass by mimicking extra harmonics, imo it's particularly cool to use on natural things like bass guitar/cello/low piano notes rather than synths.

Heh fair play.
I do like the guy cause he's humble and doesn't try to act like a big shot. I could see RBass being a lot more valuable for recorded instruments. Bit redundant on a synth. Even still, I'd rather just have a parallel saturator with an EQ after it for more control, but I guess if you're rushed for time.

Personally I like it for live bass and drums. Defo helps punch through the mix. Can work as nice saturation on a lead guitar also.

I can't take pensado seriously because whenever I see him I think of Droopy
