'Soothsayer' EP at Beatport
In 2005 a young Don McDonnell from Wisconsin began his journey in to sound design and music production. Don began collaborating with like-minded producers that he met through online communities and eventually formed the duo “Diverge” with one of these collaborators. The more aggressive and darker side of drum & bass influenced their initial sound taking influence from artists such as Venetian Snares, Konflict and Dom & Roland.
After 2 years of writing, “Diverge” were no more. Don began to hone his own sound and had become far more creative musically as a solo producer. And thus “Ghast” was born and a new start was seen in Arizona. Ghast’s current sound reflects his old influences as well as new; from his teenage love of punk, hip-hop and breakcore to being constantly open-minded leading him to venture out and find new inspiration amongst bass music.
Ghast’s music stands out and has a unique feel compared to what is being pushed on the top 100 charts right now. He has an extreme attention to detail and regardless of style or genre; the moods, intricate drum work and sound design will always leave you fascinated.
