hello - i jus copped a new (used) 1210 off the bay, its in good condition except the tonearm constantly drifts out, never in (set it up on level surface, etc no help). makes it impossible to cue up a record.

the anti-skate dial def doesn't feel right, can't b sure about the rest. what are my options here? replace the whole tonearm unit? get it serviced? anyone with some diagnosis/fix tips?

ok, iv tried playin around with it all.

problem occurs when usin 1 particular cartridge. but if i swap that cartridge back to the other deck, no problems. when usin a diff cart on the deck with issues, it doesn't seem to be so bad... or its difficult to reproduce. Tonearm assembly looks a bit knackered to me tbh, not v responsive, an creaky.

thinkin i might return the deck with the issue cos i don't wanna hav to spend to fix it straight off the bat. Any1 have any thoughts? jus so i know I'm not bein crazy.

Try calibrating anti skate and see if you can get it to balance correctly. If it's doing it with the settings correct your tonearm will probably need to be replaced. Actually...your shit's totally broken, send it to me and I'll throw it out for you......

found a blank record lyin about... anti-skate is fukd, an the lifty bit on the tonearm assembly doesn't work properly either. pissed. Gonna return it cos allow forking out to replace the whole assembly.

actually lol what sort of price region would it cost to replace the entire tonearm assembly.

I randomly had this start happening with mine too. if you loosen the tiny flathead shaped screw on top of the tonearm (slightly) it will get rid of the problem. Your tonearm will be a bit loose, but as long as you aren't thrashing your decks around it shouldn't cause any problem.

I've played on tonearms like that. It worked, it just felt knackered.

Tone arm and assembly on ebay isn't that bad, like $100-$150+ so like 70-100 pounds or so. If you're handy with soldering you could probably do it yourself, but I'd say have a shop do it. Will probably be kinda pricey overall but if everything else on the deck is solid it should last you for years.

yeah, looking on ebay now, gnu replace the whole assembly, fuckin nightmare. dno where id get it serviced, don't live in ldn if any1 got an idea pleas tell, otherwise I'm doin it myself

Will be a lot cheaper to do it yourself plus if you grab a multimeter you can recalibrate the pitches while you got it open. Viperfranks tutorials are bang on if your gonna go down that route
