The deaf community is angry over what they say was a fake sign language interpreter used at former president Nelson Mandela's memorial, according to reports.
According to various online reports, the sign language interpreter used at the memorial at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday may have been unqualified.
Braam Jordaan, a deaf South African citizen and board member of the World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section (WDF), was quoted as saying : “The structure of his hand, facial expressions and the body movements did not follow what the speaker was saying.
Some of the tweets flying around;
Obama: His struggle was your struggle. His triumph was your triumph.
Interpreter: I like to move it move it. He likes to move it move it.
And now the Interpreter is claiming it was a 'schizophrenic episode'.

Yeah heard this morning that it was a "mental episode" and he tried to control in. Even though i feel rough as fuck today i still managed to burst out laughing to that of all the excuses.
The fact hes head of SAs deaf fedoration makes it even more absurd.

Leslie Grange, 32, has been a sign language interpreter for seven years. In a statement today she cited ‘personal difficulties – particularly a crushing professional boredom’ as to why, over the past six months, she had started deviating from what was actually being reported, giving deaf viewers an often ‘wildly different version of events’.
“Questions started to be raised around the time of the Japanese earthquake when several viewers emailed us to complain about our reports of radioactive zombies sighted near the nuclear reactor. We dismissed them as some sort of organised hoax.”
“However, when there were similar numbers getting in touch to ask if Rebekah Brooks was really in trouble for raping a monkey, and why the BBC was claiming that, as a special summer treat, the Prime Minister had told the nation’s teenagers they didn’t have to pay for anything any more, we realised something was wrong.”
“I would like to apologise to everyone in the deaf community,” Grange told reporters today, “though when I had Cameron tell Obama “your statesmen-like profile leaves my willy plump” – well, frankly I don’t think that is so very far from the truth.”

Well they neglect to mention that they have used this same guy countless times and many high profile events in SA.
It's just that he has now caused an international embarrassment for the ANC.
