Looking for general advice

Hi,

I recently started making beats and I was looking for general production advice  . So far I've made this track which I'm somewhat happy with:

Soundcloud

Is there anything that sounds bad to you? what would you improve/change to make it sound better?
Also I can't manage to make it sound as loud as everyone else, I've tried compressing/limiting but it always ends up sounding really bad somehow... What do you guys compress and what settings do you use?

Thanks :corndance:

Hey man,
Pretty good track! Real old school dub vibes to it! you've got some good sounds and variation through the track. The bass is nice and deep.

For the loudness problem, have you got your master volume up? Try pushing that to about -3dB.
The mix is pretty good, a few elements are a little loud here and there, the snare for example. Otherwise it's pretty well done.

Try playing around with the hats, change them up a little, add some swing.

Keep it up bro, I'd love to hear some more of your stuff!
