Died This Way Pig Squeal Synth.

Anyone know how to make a sound like that? I mean, I'm sure skrillex could've just taken a pig squeal and modulated it, but if anyone knows how to make a screaming ear rape synth almost exactly like that, I would appreciate any knowledge shared on it.

Made something similar with the scream filter a long time ago, can mess about later and see if I can recreate it :)

I can see what i can put together.
Try just grabbing a basic saw/square wave in anything and pitch modding it.
Then adding HEAPS of external processing in relativity.

I'm talking, add some overdrive, saturation, bit crushing, BOUNCE the sample to audio, and repeat those steps in desired and successful orders, over and over and over.

After countless interviews and talks to skrillex, along with discussions on this forum. Skrillex has been surmised to be someone who warps things out of proportion using very basic construction. Apparently his Scary Monsters growl is just a sine wave with miles of external processing.

I would attempt to start basic and just distort. And as you distort, as long as it sounds good, keep going. :)

He said so himself in an interview. Or something similar to it. Not an exact quote but I do indeed have my sources. I'll post it later when I'm not on my phone.

I can understand it being sines modulated by sines but it would be almost impossible to generate so many harmonics and such a rich texture from a single sine wave with just processing.

Well you could compress it and make it a square, layer etc, but it just seems like a waste of time instead of using other waveforms/fm'ing the sine

Yeah I don't get it either, I'd do what you said. But that's what he said so take it up with him haha.

The only way I can see it is the basic tone allows for more control versus a complicated format that will make touching anything completely destroy the sound (because that's how fm is lol)

He's obviously doing something right since we're here and he's probably drunk in wonderland or some unknown place in the world playing a show for thousands of people.

I don't believe he made it from only a sine, I think it must've been said in the context of 'I made it with fm synthesis, where you can take really simple waveforms, like sines and saws and just make crazy stuff with it' or something along those lines. I think I've heard him say something like that once

are you talking about when he said this:

"I use Native Instruments Massive, I use a lot of NI's FM8, actually, and even Operator. I've actually been using the Ableton Operator FM Synth just because Massive is great. Gear it towards a certain sound, whereas you can do so much with very simple sine waves. A lot of my signature monster bass sounds are FM8 and even Operator......

... There are always different strategies for different sounds. But basically, the whole idea is you have some waveform and the whole sonic spectrum is, depending on what frequencies are spiked and what frequencies are there or not there, will cause different formants. I've taken very simple waveforms that aren't wave-table waveforms, like a modern talking oscillator or whatever in that synth, and actually done similar things where I'm actually automating an EQ to actually create different vowels manually. So taking a simple sine wave in Operator, in FM8 and starting with that, you can get some different effects that you might not get in just automating the wave-table on the Massive thing, even though I like that as well."
