Metallic Snares

Recently I have found come across some seriously w8y bass/techno tunes with snares that really crack hard and I want to get some going. Any ideas on how to get there?

I hear on the Endian cut a 'boom bat' hiphop snap thing going on with the kicks at about 400-500hz before snare hits about 2 minutes in. Other than that I am spent.
