Car Sub at Home??

Has anyone had any experience of adapting a car subwoofer for home use??

i've seen it on some online 'build your own sub' type topics and it seems do-able but just wanted if anyone's actually heard the results?

obviously me plus some mdf and a jbl sub from halfords doesn't equal a genelec bad bwoy!
but do they sound good at all?

(especially with regard to clarity as opposed to just the loudness that the car-audio boys seem to love)

cheers peeps

we went for the jbl and mdf style sub a few years back. it sounds shit, i wouldn't reccomend it! get a proper hi fi or pa sub, don't fuck around, thats my advice
