Following on from Agent's thread about alcohol.
Post here if you can't sleep. I know it's relatively early in the UK but still can't sleep most nights.

Have you got any ideas why you can't sleep?
What have you tried to help you?

I get easily distracted playing games and Facebook and producing so in a way it's my own fault, and tried nothing tbh.

So do you actually have a problem when you are trying to get to sleep or should this thread be 'Easily Distracted Anonymous'?

Well I know if I attempt to sleep I'll just be awake, it's a catch 22.

Sleep is for the weak, you'll do enough in your grave.

I had really bad insomnia for a few nights a couple of weeks ago.
It really does suck and it really messes with your day.
I think mine was from stress and not eating enough but it is a catch 22 because I'll get stressed out and then lose my appetite.
I've always been a light sleeper but here I was getting these hypnagogic jerks and muscle twitches that would keep waking me up right when I was trying to to fall asleep. All night, over and over and over.
Marijuana helps me with both the appetite issue and the sleep thing most of the times. I'll smoke a couple of puffs of a strong indica a couple of hours before bed and it helps me fall asleep usually.

But yeah, it went good for a year and now it's fucked up.

Profound issues, that benzo works pretty good now, actually. But leaves me fucking zombied next day, for like... 8 hours after I wake up.

Not got insomnia, just having a shit night. Been trying to sleep for hours and now I'm just clock-watching until I have to go to work. Fucking woe ist me.

Clock watching is no good. If I'm struggling to sleep, I've learnt to turn my bedside clock around so I can see it. It helps the anxiety levels not knowing what the time is.

I'll have to go and turn this fucking streetlight the other way round while I'm at it. The tnuc shines right in my window and my curtains are fucking translucent.

Maybe you could use an eyemask. I wear one every night to block out my neighbours sensor light which goes off every ten minutes

shit dude which one? get a shorter one. i used to take sleep meds daily, but the past few weeks i realized i can get to sleep now without them (with a combo of melatonin + benedryl...still better than actual meds imo). i'm gonna slowly stop taking benedryl and then slowly stop the melatonin too if i can.
always thought melatonin was a bunch of bullshit but then i drank some drink that said "sleep" on it and it made me really fucking tired, looked at the label, and it said it had melatonin, so i started taking it.
