Grounding issue (?) with Electribe into mixer - feedback hum

Am starting to put together an all hardware setup currently with the following;

Electribe-R
SP-303 (taking audio off laptop)
Vestax PCV-275 (DJ mixer, in lieu of anything being available)

Running the Electribe into the mixer,if I use a line input the signal is very weak, so am using the phono. However, when line in via the phono, am getting an electrical hum similar to feedback from a turntable.

Whilst the mixer has grounding connections for turntable earth cables, the Electribe doesn't have anything in terms of an earth out, so am stuck for how to remove the hum.

Any suggestions?

The Electribe outputs instrument level over 1/4" jack unbalanced , the inputs on the mixer are not the kind of high impedance ones you need like with a guitar most likely.

As to why it's humming in the phono input I'm not sure, but phono is really just for turntables.
It's basically an amp with riaa EQ before it.

*edit* I didn't provide a possible solution. I'm not familiar with the Electribe, but I'd say you basically need a DI to plug the synth straight into the line in on the dj mixer.
But a little a&h mixer for example has more flexibility, with high impedance inputs built in and you
don't have to deal with rca cables or adapters.

So running into the line input with a preamp to boost the signal would be the way to go?

Yes that might also do the trick. I generally record synths through DI, but I'd say going into a pre-amp will work.

Ok I'll look into a hp cheap preamp and see if that resolves it. Failing that, maybe using a more suitable mixer might be the way to go.
