And have you finalised who’s going to be on the album yet?

Yep.

And…?

[raises eyebrows] I’ve got a good old list, and all I’ll tell you is that it’s going to be deep. Deep, deep, deep. Deep, tribal mud-dancing. Perfect.
shouts to Hatcha.

Yeah this is a class interview

Also probs to Fact for splitting this up reasonably, not, say, a question per page.

what's with the funtcase collab though? i'm not hating on him or trying to be a downer, i just don't understand why...? hatcha doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would do a collab with funtcase.

What leads you to say that? Hatcha a) has always played tear-out tunes from early on, and b) is friends with Funtcase.

Hatcha's primarily a selector & plays what people seem to enjoy...fair enough.
So why half apologize for dabbling with the dark side?
He saw it was the trend and went with it & got to hang out with Sonny.
It would be natural for him to want a little bit of what the kids got...only human.
And now he wants to be street-credible again. Understandable, they were good days.
Dunno whether it's possible though. S'pose it depends on the album.
Reckons if it was up to him he'd play deep stuff...nothing stopping him.
:m:

one, i didn't know the two were friends, so that does add another dimension to the whole thing, but two, funtcase is a little further out there than 'tear out' imo.

funtcase is about as close to an "approved by heads" brostep artist as you can get. plus he has released stuff on Sin City under his Haze alias.

Sorry, seriously though I'm puzzled. Have you ever actually heard Hatcha DJ or listened to one of his productions?

At the absolute peak of tear-out he was making tracks like this

and this

...so I'm not totally sure how you can think him doing tribal stuff now is some kind of cynical bandwagon-jumping.

Hey, he's your friend. Talented and a source for much of my enjoyment.
As to other aspects, we have different perspectives.
Mine was confirmed by the interview. Thanks again.

Yeah, I really enjoyed reading this. You can't really hold it against him to have played out the 'track of the month' style when the more 'bro-ey' elements were in full force.

The guy clearly still holds the origins close to his heart and his selection really is top-notch.

I remember catching part of his '03 set at the FWD>> 10th anniversary night. His Skream & Benga dubplates are still unrivavlled...

Hope his future output continues the good work. :D

I've heard him DJ, 5 times never again

but I really hope for something like the king of the trees (or any Lost/kromestar collab really)
