I've been trying to figure out this little high pitched growl that minesweepa uses; it can be found around 1:40 in the linked song.

Soundcloud

Basically it sounds like there's an envelope on the pitch, giving it the waaaaahhhh!!! as it goes up in pitch. but there also sounds like there's an LFO on the pitch or something that gives it some crazy movement? I don't know, I'm not sure. What do you guys think? I know Minesweepa is a member here, but I don't think he ever posts.

Ahh.. Well Darby is apart of Dawinism (which is a producers group a few friends and myself founded). If I remember correctly the sound is a reese (meaning detune saw waves). The main modulation comes from the following : A pitch being (going upwards about 1.5 octaves) a Highpass filter and Chorus. Chorus is the primary part of the sound, and it is what gives the "whine" kind of sound when combine with the reverse pitch bend and the filter. But yeah, it's just a modified reese bass.

If you want to check us out, here is our link (were small as shit right now, but that's fine) : https://soundcloud.com/dawinism

Hope this helps,

Droid
