Speaking as a devotee to the methodology.
I've completely given up on trying to convince people the "point" of Astrology.
However, understanding and studying the zodiac has helped me better understand every relationship in life!
Whether you choose to accept it or not.
Everyone has a Zodiac Sign, Everyone has a distinct Natal Chart that is exclusive to the arrangement of the planets at the time of their birth.
This fact helps me understand communication and compatibilities between everyone I know, Family, Friends, Foes, even celebrities.
If you're ever curious about your own nature, studying your zodiac is like looking into the mirror of your soul, it's your star, an unfolded road map for your destiny.
It's a remarkably complex system, Truly the most beautiful way of understanding people and human nature. The wiser I've become in my independent study, the more I find I can incorporate the system of understanding into my life, and better relate to the person or people I'm interacting with.

I do believe that we have some kind of relation to stars.
But astrology is 100% bullshit pseudoscience, and if you honestly believe that you will meet the love of your life or that next Tuesday will be a good day because a horoscope told you so then I honestly feel sorry for you.

I'm taurus as well.
I don't believe in astrology, although i do believe that the time of year you are born will have an influence on your personality. My old boss was crazy about it whenever a customer came in he would ask them their star sign and then give an in depth review of their personality haha.

So, 9 Months before you were born, guess what? Your Mom and Your Dad had a loving, passionate, life altering orgasm...
And on the day of your birth, from the place of your birth the Sun was in a specific degree of the zodiac, it changes every hour, twice a day, 12 signs, 24 hours in a day. We call this the ascendent. This is the way people perceive you.
This is where it gets tricky, We agree that the Planets exist, right? That Carl Sagan isn't just assuming in every aspect of his life's work as an astronomer, that the cosmos and the earth and the stars and the universe or to put it in terms dsf can relate to "space" (I started reading his work in elementary school. read several of his books, he's a scientist, and therefore doesn't validate Astrology) So, the planets that exist in our stellar sphere, in Astrology rule different various zodiac signs, all with different energies and characteristics, These planets travel through the various zodiac signs over time, and @ the exact moment of your inception on to Earth, upon your first breath of independent life, each of the nine planets were in a specific form that is exclusive to you. ONLY U HAVE YOUR NATAL CHART. It belongs to you.
What you do with that information is completely up to you, and I wouldn't "feel sorry" for you if didn't spend 30 seconds to look at your personal, exclusive, one of a kind Natal chart that is in fact your relation to the stars.

Horoscopes to Astrology is what Goldfish Crackers are to Seafood
*IMO, Astrology has nothing to do with predicting anyone's future.
