“We’re about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before,” says Robert “RZA” Diggs, the first Wu-Tang member to speak on record about Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, in an exclusive interview with FORBES. “We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music. We’re making a single-sale collector’s item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king.”

I wonder how long it'll take to leak somehow.
More importantly, I wonder if Wu have got a decent crew album left in them...

Most infamous was the Merzcar. Label owner Anders had a rundown Mercedes-Benz that he rarely drove, and the police told him to move it or else it would be towed. So he rigged the CD player to play the label's newest release, Merzbow's Noisembryo, and made it impossible to turn off or remove. He then put the car up for sale as a limited edition of one.

Morons. I bet the album will be disappointing, they should have quit while they were ahead.

It should be sold to fans who open a kickstarter to collect money for it and then leak it.

massive lols when it turns out to be shitty outtakes from their other album or just fake
and lol @ wu-tang "[using] the album as a springboard for the reconsideration of music as art, hoping the approach will help restore it to a place alongside great visual works–and create a shift in the music business"
also lol @ caring about wu-tang in 2014

The principle is sound but now they have ruined the idea with terrible execution.
Imo someone should make a record so huge you had to have a go cart run the pick up - have it a little record course x do a lap

It says in the article that it can also be sold to a major label which will then have the rights to release it

Yeah it's also available for a few million. Basically a faster way to make that kind
of money from an album.

Love the WU "forever", Gza is my favorite his albums are unparalleled in Hip Hop, Method Man is the best performer, and I like some of Ghostface's solo's, obviously 36 chambers is always going to be the most classic rap shit ever, but it's not 93' anymore. IDK, it's a strange gimmick, but every time when the WU get's outside your memory banks, BAM! there there again with another album, or another solo, or a crazy stunt like this. It's dope, I have no predictions about the record, but RZA is a G, he's hands down one of the most gifted and influential producers to ever grace a MPC, The Wu-Manual is awesome too, and "Ghost Dog" is a tight movie.

I'd buy it.
Then I'd charge rich Idiots to come to a gallery in Clifton to listen to it played through some original Banksy's... whilst people in hoodies dance street ballet in a really abstract way.
