I've been trying for years do a good dubstep drop!!!! but there's always something wrong

Now the main problem is that my drop sounds too slow (and there's an automation, or a different sound every 1/4 compass, etc

) … and when finally it is fast, it is sound like a bunch of noises without connection or harmony
oh, by the way, I'm trying to do something like the drop of Promises remix by Nero and Skrillex (I knoooow they are too mentioned, but i get inspired for that track

), or maybe something like fractal, au5?
any tips? I'm hopeless

First make a palette of sounds, then paint with it.
- [+] Spoiler
- So you get creative and not technical about sound design

^ agree with mromg, cant count the amount of times i started sound design with a particular sound in mind only to have spent hours not getting close to it. Dont plan anything ahead, make your sounds first, THEN put them together.

You can use percussion to make it sound faster. A kick and a snare in half time at 140 is pretty slow, add some fast hihats or something

Well, I'm doing sounds all the time bro, but at the moment of use them in the mix, it doesn't have connection each other... or maybe its my mind that thinks theres something wrong? I really dont know, because at the 1st time that I listen to it, its fantastic.
few days later, is shit
all the sounds used are clean, but still it doesnt work
and yes, i use kicks/snares/hihats a lot so...seriously i don't know what's wrong
hate to do this, but I need to post part of the drop just to be sure its not my mind giving me a bad impression (for me sounds almost like trap

)

Might be because your build up is really fast and full of different elements then suddenly there is nothing going on

Or a sync'd gate that gradually rises in strength - literally chopping all sounds off at the same time...?
Glad ye like my song stylings. I do two shows a night.

Set the bpm to 150

It sounds like you're not having a problem with fast or slow, but instead getting your sounds to work together to form a cohesive sound. You've obviously managed to get the desired speed in your music before, you just disliked how everything else sounded in conjunction with that speed.
Unfortunately there is no easy answer to this problem. Knowing if sounds work together comes with experience and trial and error. You'll probably fail a lot, but eventually you'll be able to hear a sound and make a fairly well educated guess on whether or not it will work. Even then you still might be wrong which is where the trial and error comes in.
I would also suggest if you do use tempo automation to achieve your goal, make sure you design your sounds in the tempo you are going to automate to. A progression or sound might sound good at 140, but it might go to shit at 160.

thx for the tips
oh, and today I was thinkin in something different: when you have the audio file into ableton, you can put a 'yellow tag' above in the wave form, and another one in other point (sorry, I dont know the name of this process

) and gather as much as possible both 'tag' to make it faster, but I would have to export the track many times to see how it sounds each time that I do something more (plus, I have to do like 64 compasses to complete the 32)
or just set the tempo to 150/160 bpm??

Yes, I know i'll fail a lot more

… and thanks for the explanation of my problem

I think the only answer for this is: keep working hard

, but i was looking if there is a technic that I didn't try before
If someone else have another idea, u are welcome <3
