Many people listen on Beats, but many also listen to music with iPod earbuds, standard headphones that comes with their phones, portable speakers and their phone's loudspeaker. I don't see much of an added benefit since the point of mixing down with a decent monitoring setup is making your tunes sound good on every system. That includes Beats and anything else.

Having a third or fourth set of speakers to A/B on isn't a bad idea, but it doesn't have to be Beats.

I don't think the difference between a pair of Beats and your own headphones used for making music is large enough to warrant getting a pair to A/B my mixes. My car can serve as a great way to hear(or feel, which I find more important) my track on a system that isn't flat and is made to make music sound great or whatever.

All you really need to do is investigate the EQ curve on Beats - don't give those fucking fucks money.

Interesting thought, but as others have said...if you have some cheaper headphones, nicer headphones, a bluetooth speaker, car stereo, low end home stereo etc to listen on you have well covered your bases. Also, to be perfectly honest, I'd have a hard time buying a pair of beats. Maybe used or something...but yea...not giving them my money. Also, didn't Apple just buy Beats?

Have Beats headphones come down in price? Last time I looked at them they were like 200 dollars, and that was for the cheap ones. There's like 10 different versions and the highest "quality" ones, supposedly based on price anyway, are like 500.

I don't know about anyone else but that's a good chunk of change for me. If I'm gonna drop 200+ dollars on something it's going to be on something that I think will have an impact on my music as a whole, not just for potential benefits on A/Bing. If I had money to throw around I'd definitely do it. But I just don't see a need right now.

I actually use my Beats quite a bit when checking my mixes. Seeing as there super bass heavy it gives me a better representation (imo) of how things should be coming together. Ultimately i still do all my final mixing on my monitors, but that wall of bass sound really does help.

Now, bear in mind i didnt pay for these things and i wouldnt really recommend anyone spending a lot of money on them (1/2 price or so sounds good). There uncomfortable and poorly made, but if you dont want to hear the world then there great.

Yea it's definitely good for checking your mix, not because they give a solid response but since a lot of people will be listening to your music on them. Like someone said above it's the same with iPod earbuds, always good to be checking how it sounds on them because a lot of people will use those to listen to your music.
