any tips of how to make the 2nd drop different to the first drop?


not the actual drop just the different variation?!

like for example my lastest tune ,1 st part and 2nd part sounds the same

TBH I get what he means. He already has his hats in a cool pattern, his wabs are arranged nicely, and then he gets to the second drop. He doesn't want his songs to feel like Knife Party when they only have 1 song with a second drop on the EP, and he wants to make the song feel varied... It's just sometimes you feel like the first drop was really good and you don't know how to make it better (like second drops always are)


ANYWAY, just listen to yo fav artists fam and copy what they do. Got a 140 BPM Dubstep bang3r and like FOTY a lot? Then copy it's second drop, and go un-halftime. You could chop up the main bass into 16th notes and go all rapid fire machine gun wubs. You could switch genres, which almost always ends well. You could change the drop entirely, really you're only limited by your imagination.

People make fun of this question because you can do literally anything other than repeat the drop the exact same way...and you will have effectively added variation.
Here are some idea's:
--add a new melody / synth
--add some vocal samples / stabs
--add harmonies
--add a new distinct layer onto one of your current sounds.
--add a string or pad line in the background
--add bleeps and bloops
--drop elements / add elements
--double time the beat / change the rhythm
--slightly alter your existing melody / bassline
etc...etc...
These ideas should be inherent in someone making music, that's why this post is kind of humorous.

this bassline / percussion pattern switch up in this tune is one of my faves

the way it comes back in at 1:50 is

i find with second drops that stripping things back and changing things works better than adding things (personal preference). after a few bars u can start adding the original elements back in, or any of the other mazillion things u can do (stuff that shakas said)

as ppl said b4, look at ur fave producers, and try to analyse what they do, and then steal their ideas l0ol0ol
