Got this track, I'm working to put some vocals to, I know the mix is a bit rough, but other than that would love to hear your feedback.

What would you call it?

Dubstep. People around here would call it filth, brostep, or tearout in all likelihood.

And just for clarification, Dub proper was originally a largely instrumental subcategory of Reggae. The innovations Dub gave the world include the idea of the remix, the studio/recording gear itself as instrument, and the use of a shit-ton of fx, especially reverb and delay. Without Dub, there would be no Dubstep (or DnB, or Hip Hop as we know it for that matter) but they are definitely not the same thing.

Dub:

And it's even possible to make dubby dubstep (or dubsteppy dub, depending on how you look at it)

BUT: they are discrete entities with distinct origins. Dubstep is like the 2nd generation cousin of Dub.

I should have titled it dubstep, not dub, I shortened it. I really meant dubstep, and I know the difference. Thanks for the write up though. Love to hear some technical feedback.

Happy to help. :W:

Otherwise, the weight of the eq might benefit from a slight shift downwards - subs up, mids down a bit - and some very narrow eq cuts in problem spots where clashing or cancellation are happening. Start around 1000hz.

dub, dubstep... we know what you mean... its all good

very intense brostep but you got some nice chords in there. the theme in the tune is actually going somewhere. You should check out, Mr. Bill & Virtual Riot - Thwek. This reminds me of it.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, are you saying to eq the subs at higher frequencies and the mids shelved lower?

The clashing part is a bit tough for me since I have so many lines of programing going on, I'm trying to figure out a way to do it efficiently. I was thinking a multipart spectrum analyser vst? If there is one?

Anyways I'm cutting some lyrics tomorrow, I will keep you guys updated. I really appreciate the input!

i think what ronzlo is saying is to get a better mix down from 30hz to 1,000, turn down your mids and upper bass, then raise your low end and sub bass. and look for anything in the whole area from 30-1000hz that might be interfering with each other and eq them away from each other. i might be wrong but by shift downwards, he's saying focus on the low end of the freq and try to get that mix right!
