is this similar to signing to a label?

This is a simple distribution service, there's a lot of them about that you can pay to have your music distributed onto major online stores. They do claim to have an A&R team backed by Universal Recs. but I bet it's rare that they pick people up.

It's not really like signing to a label, since you have to pay and do everything yourself, they simply put your music on an online store.
