What are you expecting tbh? We only hear about the major DAWs when there's a major update coming.
I think they seriously messed up their own launch, though. I think they would have benefited from releasing a less expansive but still solid product sooner, way before Ableton 9 was released. By the time Bitwig was released, a lot of the hype died down and people went from Ableton 8 tot 9, so Bitwig didn't have much going anymore.

Don't lose faith.
I've not tried it out yet, I'm waiting for all the features to be filled in, but come on...even if it flops, some of the features will hopefully be replicated by other DAW developers. Logic, FL, Ableton, Cubase, etc have all stagnated a bit in my opinion. We need something like Bitwig to give everyone a kick up the ass.
Native Linux support and network sync are the big ones in my opinion. Being able to collaborate on a project with someone on the other side of the world in real-time should be a complete game-changer. Linux is the way forward for desktops...Steam is already working hard to make gaming viable on the platform and if Bitwig does well then we are all one step closer to having a free, fully featured, open-source operating system.
I don't know how it's all going to pan out yet but I think Bitwig's potentially a significant part of the bigger picture. Give it time.

I like Bitwig, but I thought it was going to a little more like Ableton's workflow because everyone talking about it made it seem that way. But it's not the same to me besides the way the plugins look and where they go, and the clip launching thing.

I never understood all the hype over Bitwig. Wasn't it just an Ableton clone with a fresh user interface? Since switching to Live 9 I don't look back, I'm not sure how a DAW expects to come onto the market and take Ableton's place. Especially since Ableton have nice controllers, lots of max content, a great API for coding your own stuff.

Lol I actually hated it when I first tryed it out around when it was first release and hated it. I've been using it in my recent productions for almost everything and love it now. Gui was weird. I expected it to be more like ableton but its really its own thing.

The way bitwig handles plugins is worlds ahead of ableton imo.

Like external plugins?

yes, I can handle way more plugins now. Delay playing my drum pad for example is way better now as well. you also get a visual display for delay per track, including the master. I usually have about 56 ms on master with a full production.

We're currently waiting on the 1.1 patch, which will add midi routing, proper sidechaining and a ton of other features. It's taking a while, but they said it should be within the next month.
So far it's pretty impressive, it has a ton of features that aren't available elsewhere and works nicely. But it's only a 1.0 release and is still lacking some functionality. Hopefully the patches will fix that soon. 1.2 should add group/folder tracks, that's about all they've announced so far.

+1.
The VST sandboxing is a great feature, it stops a bad plugin from crashing your project. I no longer have to remember to save every few minutes like I did in Cubase.

Group your tracks by sending things to return tracks.

It was a life lived too short
Seriously though if they get some decent updates and keep innovating they can still earn further respect and keep momentum going

We all have to remember that when Live came out, it didnt even have MIDI. Bitwig's still got some time. (Although the market is much more saturated now then when Live came out in 2001)

Is it though? What new DAWs have come out since Live?
If anything, with the rising popularity of electronic music, I'd say that it's a great time to enter the market.
And it was already saturated when Live came out, but they had a unique product and Ableton is now a huge success. So I'd say that there's always room for a good product.
