a question too stupid to ask?

Ok I gotta ask it though. I've been researching and producing for almost a year, most of what I do is more ambient music. When trying to write dustup though something isn't clicking in my head.

So here goes. During a drop sequence (whuuuuum wub wub wub screech-a screech-a screech screech. Is each sound its own element or is it fx manipulated on one sound? For example, The main tool in my arsenal is Maschine, if I were doing a typical drop would I load an instrument into a pad, and manipulate plugins to create those sound, or would each wub, screech and sizzle be treated as a one shot played individually?

Hopefully that makes sense, like I said stupid question lol.

It's not a stupid question at all. And it can be a number of things.

I've done tracks where it's just one bass with tons of modulation and long effect chains turning on/off. But I've also done it with different sounds that complement each other. And that's not to mention resampling.

Just keep messing around and see what works for you.
