I can't remember ever hearing a La Roux track apart from 2009 Skream's remix of In For The Kill
At the time it seemed to be significant for it being nicely subby yet commercial AND incorporating dnb
at a time when there was still debate on here about whether dubstep could satisfactorily incorporate vocals,
particularly divaesque female vocals,
and dnb was a few years off revival.
Nowdays "La Roux" seems to be the vocalist Elly Jackson with a pick up band.
Does anybody know if they were ever a credible band live?
Anyway, gets me wondering whether Ollie's achievement in legitimizing femme vocals with this track hasn't been under-recognized
or was just a carapace-cracking precursor to commercialized muzak & bro.

Have always hated the track. Actually had to change radio stations when I heard it for the first time.

Also, there were loads of awesome dubstep tunes with awesome female vocals before In 4 The Kill came along. Geiom's Reminiscin with Marita, Warrior Queen on Poison Dart (ok not sure whether she'd count as being divaesque), D1's Mind + Soul come immediately to mind.

I liked it at the time and I still like it, but I haven't listened to it intentionally in about 5 years.
Simplest tune ever though... and the original is AWFUL.

Bulletproof was not a hit over there? Saw her live once, was pretty good really.
Don't care for that remix.

I look back on that tune the same way I look back upon experiences with piperazines.
