It depends on how hard your major is, if it's something that is very study intensive and you're taking a full time load then yeah, you're gonna be hurting for production time.
I go to school full time, and work a part time job with grant money filling in the gaps. I'm going to go for BA of Fine Arts. I manage to find time for tunes.
Also depends on how much of your time is taken up by social activities/gf etc. Have fun in college. If your parents are paying for it, don't be a fuckhead and waste it away.

I work 45-50 hours a week, have a pretty active social life (i'm only home 2/3 nights a week) and still manage to at least get half a tune finished a week, sometimes 2.
If you want to make music, you'll find time.

You're gonna fucking blown away how much free time you'll waste while at college. Don't worry

What would you rather do get drunk or make beats? Your choice.

This. This. This. Even in grad school I had loads of free time. Like whole days per week where I only did school work/class for a few hours. I never took so many weed naps in my life.

For me is...focus on making music then school suffers. Focus on school then the music suffers.
I usually go crate digging when I have some free time, which is sad cause I rarely get the chance to sit down and listen to my finds probably.

I always preferred the TV on, but muted, with good tunes playing. It's like a random, crazy juxtaposition machine. Then you'll see something that blows your mind and off to music making land...

I've had to put music on the back burner for the most part while I've been in school because I really had to focus on my studies. Now I have a full time job and I'm a full time student. It's hard to fit music in there sometimes. I've been playing my bass to blow off some steam, but I haven't had much time for producing lately.

#1st post, been lurking this forum since 2010 tho anyways... i completed 4 semesters at a jc and tbh i had a lot of time to make music, but all my classes were undergrad ged classes. still tho like aslong as u dont need 8hrs+ sleep u should still be able to be the next ZEDD or DATSIK and get a proper education too

. For me though college was too much to do and still be SERIOUS about making music my only career, now that i dropped out its like a dream all the time i have to aim towards creating music and everything that comes with the business side of things... cheers!

How can you do two things full time though. I interpret that as at least 70 hours.
I mean I guess you have around 80 hours a week but still.

Yeah, at least 60 - 70 hours a week. This degree program that I'm in is with my state's first official online university. Several US states have made it an official state university as well. It is fully accredited by the same accreditation authority for the major universities in my region. It's called Western Governors University and it was founded by several state governors in the late '90's. It only just became an official state university this year, which means I'm eligible for funds and grants. This was a big part in my decision to attend this school.
So yeah, work all day and study all evening is pretty much how it goes. I'm working on a Bachelors of Science degree in IT - Security right now.

He is an American.
In college I did 40 hours a week of class, plus lab time, 35 of working in a kitchen to pay for shit, 25 of band practice, still managed to get drunk and chase pussy like a blood hound (that doesn't sound right), all the while pulling an A average.
After school, I started a business. I billed 80 hours a week, as well as worked on flat rate projects for clients, 100 hour weeks were common and went months without a day off. Still managed to get into the gym and play 3+hours of basketball on Saturdays.
Later, getting another degree, I successfully petitioned my school to take more credits than the max, was the editor of a professional/academic journal, researched, wrote and published an extensive piece in said journal, while also working at a firm and was responsible for client issues with millions of dollars at stake, AND had a new born baby girl at home who took 2 years before she could sleep for 6 hours straight at night. Final two years, top 5% of my class, in a VERY competitive environment.
Now, I surf the web and hang out on dsf.
Major Flex, and all more than true.

This times 1000x. I went to school full time, worked part time, DJ'd 1-3 times a week, had a girlfriend and still spent half my day bored. If you really find you're swamped but making music is important to you, you'll find time.

Damn!!
So you got a masters degree then?
I'm working on my 3rd degree but I never finished my bachelors. I have two associate degrees. Like a dumb ass, I dropped out of uni to move to the city and pursue music. I'm not saying I regret it, I worked in the industry for many years, got sent to Europe a few times etc.

I'm in college and I think that it's quite easy to find time. Although it's as stated above, completely depending on what you're majoring in.
