Ok, I know this may have been, "answered" numerous times before. However, none of them really give a somewhat, "close enough" answer on how to make them other than the obvious: Make Sound -> Apply FX..

However, I have decided to give it a go and I managed to get this output.

I'm not sure if this sounds anything like djahsta and I just want to know how close it actually sounds and if anybody can help me; what can I do to make this better?

And for the fx chain. Most people would recommend Effectrix for all of the delay and such when really it isn't needed... You can get pretty much the same effect (if you're an FL Studio user) from effector. Which alternatively does the same thing.. If you tweak it right however and then once you have it to your liking, you can then use the tempo knob to fit your bass... Turning it down to about 9 o'clock or a little higher gives great effects... Once doing that, the bass is pretty much done.. You can obviously apply the eq from common sense and then do whatever else you want to, "beef" it up a bit more...

But I'm more wondering how to get a DJAHSTA - SYSTEM BASS... like the one at 1:01 for example

You have the vowel movement in the longer notes fairly close. As for the sound overall, it sounds nothing at all like D-Jahsta.

I know.. System, or System VIP is more of a sound I'm trying to go for now. Hence why I mentioned it in my original post

You're getting super close, what your missing i think is the bandreject
I have no idea how you're going about doing it patchwise but thats what it sounds like you're missing, or its in the wrong place
and djahsta using ableton, so its hard to replicate his exact sound without the aul native simple delay
and dont forget the beef, these sounds always have a weak body to them, takes alot of compression and the right kind of distortion to make them sound full

I see, and yes, I'm definitely missing a bandreject as I'm using a bandpass instead... I've gone about the sound using speech, D-org and Additive

and yeah, Djahsta uses operator mostly I believe too so trying to get it in massive can be difficult and yeah definitely! It doesn't sound that, "hard hitting" or "punchy" However, like Omniclad said, It's got the right movement but the sound needs improving overall definitely!

I used a scream filter and then a bandpass filter then the rest is pretty much done by fx

I don't know if he still sticks to it, but I've read in several places that he runs his basses through a Kaossilator.

Kinda wonder how much that matters.

But like Labco said, it's going to be quite the challenge going from Operator to Massive. Goodluck tho!

Time ago I was working with these D-Jahsta style bass... What do you think?

I told 9skies(Akrukia) this before I think its best to do this inside fm. Im an ableton user, so i tried going through the route of using operator and all native and one external plugin. You can't just some use a random patch and throw delays,tight reverb, phaser and chorus and make something unique sound. You got to make your initial patch sound full and talky and in FM that is super super easy if you understand waveforms. You problem could get this in massive but I say go to fm. Ive also made these exact sounds in sytrus, i would say you can get better sounds in sytrus since you arent restricted to your matrix routings.
Plus he also resamples! So you what you can do and a lot of you dont do is mess with chopping up sounds. Im not saying if you do this you will make the sick wubs m9 but try look to out of the box thinking and its always the smallest things that can yield big results.

Even if I made my sounds in Massive, I'm completely agree with you.... FM synthesis is the best way to achieve this sounds... I listen to your operator example and it's very cool... It's very solid and talkie... I will try to spend some time in operator....

The original post was SPECIFICALLY aimed towards me trying to achieve it in massive.. I know FM synthesis is the best but Massive is what I wanted to use because I don't want to learn Sytrus or FM8 at this moment in time...

Ah... ok.. Basically I used the Phase rate of the MOD OSC as a modulator... I made a pretty basic patch than I attached a LFO modulating the Phase rate... I hope I have been clear...

Just for a heads up... Adding a vocoder to this plus a flanger and a delay makes a great fx chain for a djahsta like sound

NOTE: Setting the bands to 5 in the vocodex makes it sounds great too!

I can make the one wobble that sounds like a large piece of metal being shook.
